Unbelievably, we have gone from a really bad drought to a period of severe storms/flood in a matter of weeks. We were buying water for rescued farmyard animals last week to now having flooding problems for many of our carers & our Shelter. What is that Aussie poem....''from droughts to flooding rains, The Wide Brown Land for me..."? A big thankyou to Velma from www.velmaspetsastherapy.com.au who organised a team of volunteers on short notice to be on standby all through the night of the severe weather warning to save all the animals in care who were in danger of being flooded out. It was a very long night!!! And it was a very hard night with creeks rising and wind & rain relentless but we were lucky not to loose any animal enclosures and only minimal damage from falling branches to infrastructure (sheds & road). Thanks again to all those from VPAT it was great to know you were there !
